The inspection
The call. We were asked to inspect a steep roof in Invermere after a wind event.
What we found. Wind damage across all slopes, and several shingles loosened by the wind that were at risk of blowing off and letting water in. The ridge venting was working as intended.
Making it safe. On a 12/12 pitch, the crew set up fall protection and made more than ten separate temporary patches across all slopes to stop leaks right away.
Our recommendation. Patches are not a long-term fix. Given how widespread the damage was, our HAAG-certified inspector recommended a full roof replacement, documented in a written inspection report.
