The project
The complex. A townhome strata on an open hillside, with long rooflines, multiple buildings and lots of decks and patios below the eaves.
Why Duration. The site is exposed to wind, so we recommended Owens Corning Duration shingles. Their SureNail® strip gives a wide nailing zone and strong holding power for high-wind areas.
The install. We stripped the old roofs to the deck, repaired decking where needed, and installed ice and water membrane, synthetic underlayment, Duration shingles, new ridge cap and new vents.
For the residents. With people living in every unit, the crews kept the site tidy and cleaned up at the end of each day.
Block by block. The strata had the complex re-roofed in phases, a few blocks at a time, with shingle colours chosen block by block, including Desert Tan and Desert Rose.
The details. Owens Corning starter strip at the rakes, eaves and both sides of every valley, open metal valleys, six nails per shingle, Owens Corning Supreme hip and ridge, and sealed chimney flashings.
