The project
The home. A new two-storey infill on a narrow inner-city lot in the Marda Loop and Altadore area of SW Calgary. When our crew arrived, the house was framed and sheathed with the roof on, and ready for its exterior.
What we installed. James Hardie fibre cement siding in a vertical board-and-batten profile. A dark feature wall runs up the centre gable, with white board-and-batten on the main floor and side sections, finished around each window and under the porch rooflines.
Why it suits an infill. Infills sit close to their neighbours and take the full force of Calgary’s hail, freeze-thaw cycles and dry chinook winds. Fibre cement holds its shape and finish through all of it, and board-and-batten gives a tall, narrow home a clean modern look from the street.
About these photos. The after photos were taken while the exterior was still being finished, so you’ll see some house wrap on the upper side sections and building materials on the lot.
