The inspection
The question. The homeowners of a newer house wanted to know if a summer storm had done any real harm. From the ground, the house looked fine.
What we found. Our inspector walked every slope and marked each impact on the shingles. We checked all 11 roof vents and the plumbing stack, then the full run of eavestroughs and downspouts and the fascia on the north gable. A section of siding was also dented.
Our answer. Even on a five-year-old roof, the shingles, eavestroughs and fascia were worth replacing so the home was protected for the long term.
What we did. We gave the homeowners good, better and best shingle options, then replaced the roof, eavestroughs, downspouts and fascia as a single project, with the siding matched for profile and colour.
The report. Every item was photographed and listed, so the homeowners could see exactly what we found before deciding.
