Aluminum soffit under the eave
What soffit does for your roof
Fresh air enters through vented soffit and leaves through the vents near the ridge. That airflow keeps the underside of the roof cold and dry. When soffit is solid wood, painted over or blocked by insulation, the airflow stops.
The result can be frost under the deck in winter, heat build-up in summer, and ice dams along the eaves.

Signs your soffit needs attention
Look for sagging or missing panels, peeling paint on wood soffit, nests, or long icicles along one side of the house. Each one points to a problem at the roof edge.
With Alberta’s freeze-thaw cycles, asphalt shingles usually need replacing at around 15 years, and cedar shake can last a bit longer. If the roof is close to due, we can plan the soffit and venting with it.

Aluminum does not rot or need paint, and it comes vented for airflow.
